"Emerald Peak"

Zion National Park, Utah
November 19, 2012

This was our first ever desert backpack and it was awesome! We hiked deep into Zion's backcountry where we stayed for 3 nights, camping out on beautiful slickrock and pumping a large pothole for water. From camp we explored and found our way to the top of obscure "Emerald Peak", a probable 1st ascent. By CP's calculations this is the most remote peak in the park (as measured by minimum hiking distance required to reach the summit). The climbing was not difficult but the long and complex approach made it a very rewarding journey.
