Approaching Bastion Peak via Dinwoody Glacier. Bastion's dramatic northeastern sub-summit is in the foreground on the left. There is supposedly a good 5.6 route up the obvious buttress. The highpoint and true summit is to the right. That's where we're headed.

Our route up an obvious weakness in Bastion's north face. Plenty of loose talus and scree. Kelsey describes a 4th class route in the vicinity but he's vague and the route is unclear. Teresa thinks she's found an easier alternative but we're not positive about what we're going to find up above. Bastion Peak is the biggest question mark on our expedition and we're not 100% confident we will reach the summit on this trip.

Unstable morning weather makes for some phenomenal lighting on Flagstone Peak (higher peak in the back) and UN 13,180. Its not all roses though... midway up Bastion we climb into the clouds and it sprinkles enough for us to break out rain gear.

Cool slabs in Gannett Creek. It rained nearly the entire hike out. Rough terrain and an abundance of flowing water made for an exhausting descent to camp in Wilson Meadows.
