Bagging 6,000 foot peaks in desolate northern Wyoming isn't something you plan on or get excited about. But exploring some of the peaks of Bighorn Basin turned out to be a satisfactory adventure the day mud kept Dominic, Ryan, Steph & I from accessing nearby Francs Peak, highpoint of the Absaroka Mountains. Unsettled weather painted the landscape with stunning and ever changing color. Surprisingly, the most boring sounding summit, Grass Benchmark, was actually the most interesting. The terrain was very reminiscent of Utah and we felt like we were canyoneering at times. There were also cool geological things there, which Ryan says are concretions. The Squaw Teats were also a highlight, mostly because I'd never climbed a teat before!
