Castle Peak is a crumbly summit in the badlands of the Grand Mesa area in western Colorado. Unlike most of the walk up peaks in the vicinity, this one requires a techincal pitch on incredibly poor rock to breach the topmost cliff band. Even though the climbing is only low 5th class, this is probably the most dangerous crap I've ever climbed. Hats off to Derek for having the cajones to lead it! It ended up being a fun adventure, but I can't say that I have any aspirations of slogging around here to collect any other summits. Hardpan mud is just not my forte I guess!
