I won't beat around the bush. Herbs Point is a long slog any way you slice it. Sure, the majority of the route is on trail, but much of that trail rambles through the draining, deep sands of Hop Valley. Your reward after more than ten miles including a healthy stretch of bushwhacking is a brushy summit mesa with mediocre views. Oh, and there's a road just a couple of miles away that would make bagging this peak trivial if it wasn't on private property.

So why climb Herbs Point? Well, the Hop Valley and La Verkin Trails are beautiful. And you'll find plenty of solitude in this corner of the park. And get a great workout. That's all I got.
