Mescal Mountain is a low peak in Sedona that requires minimal effort to climb yet has some charm. An easy trail hike leads to a brief 3rd class scramble through a cliff band guarding the summit pleateau. Lots of harder options for breaching this cliff band exist; keep looking until you find the easy 3rd class weakness. The route passes directly by some indian ruins. The summit area is broad but distinct and offers great views of the surrounding red rock country.
