A short slickrock scramble with some spicy 4th class terrain near the top
Southeast slopes of "South Ariel Peak". There are interesting patterns in the slickrock.
The crux of the southeast slopes route is a steep, rather featureless section of slickrock. The bush next to it is very helpful.
Dominic on the summit of "South Ariel Peak" with "Aries Butte" in the background. A runout, bolted 5.6ish route is the easiest way to the top.
View west from the summit. UT-9 can be seen below. The large peak on the right is known as "Ant Hill". The point peak in the center is Bridge Mountain.
Almost the entire southwest slopes route can be seen in this picture. The crux is near the top.
Five points of contact was the rule of thumb for the descent of the upper, steep portion. We stalled at the crux for many minutes before committing to the spicy downclimb. The pointy peak left of center is "Nippletop", a fun 3rd class scramble from UT-9 below.
